Skoda unlikely to introduce electric cars for now

The Czech automaker, Skoda, has announced in a press report that they are not looking forward to launching electric vehicles in India at the moment. As their current fuel-powered models are doing good in sales and are expecting to launch a few more in the upcoming years, they are currently not planning on EVs. furthermore, the CEO has announced that from now only petrol-powered cars are going to be on sale, eliminating diesel from their lineup.

Skoda India CEO mentioned that the country wasn’t ready for mainstream electric vehicles right now. The battery prices are also high at the moment, hence they are waiting for battery prices to be on a similar price point as combustion engines. He also said that Skoda has introduced EVs in other markets, and will introduce it to the Indian market when the conditions are appropriate in the country.

However, Skoda Volkswagen group has big plans for the Indian market. They have heavily contributed to the development of electric vehicle facilities in India. Indian customers can expect exciting and interesting EVs from the group in the future.
